Our client is a large Queensland Government department delivering environmental, agricultural and community protection initiatives across the state.
About the role
As the Senior Project Officer, you will support the planning, delivery and evaluation of preparedness projects relating to animal and plant biosecurity.
Projects may cover emergency animal diseases, invasive pests and animals, stakeholder education, training and engagement activities, and the development of supporting resources.
Working within an approximately 17-person Strategy and Engagement team, you will engage with internal specialist teams and a diverse range of external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate biosecurity preparedness projects
Define project requirements, objectives, priorities and deliverables
Develop and manage project schedules, timelines and resources
Identify and manage project risks, issues and dependencies
Prepare project updates, reports, briefings and supporting documentation
Coordinate stakeholder education, training and engagement activities
Develop practical resources that strengthen biosecurity awareness and preparedness
Build productive relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
Work with industry groups, local government, supply-chain partners, community organisations and the public
Support effective governance,
reporting and continuous improvement across projects
Requirements
Demonstrated experience coordinating or managing projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation
Strong capability across project planning, timelines, risks, stakeholder management and reporting
Experience delivering education, engagement, training or behaviour-change projects is highly regarded
Solid written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, briefings and project resources
Confidence engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a complex environment
Government experience is not essential, although an understanding of governance or public-sector processes would be beneficial
Experience within biosecurity, agriculture, primary industries, emergency preparedness, environment or natural resource management would be advantageous
