Mechnical Leading Hand Service Technician

We are seeking a motivated Leading Hand Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join a busy and growing workshop in Salisbury. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead a team of skilled technicians while remaining actively involved in servicing, diagnostics and repairs.

Offering a $180 per week Leading Hand allowance, this position is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others, driving workshop performance and maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.

About the Role Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will play a key role in coordinating daily workshop activities while providing technical expertise and leadership to the team.

Key responsibilities include:
Leading and mentoring a team of mechanics
Allocating daily work and monitoring workflow
Carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs
Troubleshooting complex mechanical issues
Ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard
Conducting toolbox talks and promoting a solid safety culture
Reviewing job cards and maintenance documentation




Supporting workshop efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives
Liaising with workshop leadership regarding priorities and resources

About You To be successful, you'll bring:
Trade Qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, Vehicle Body Building or Fabrication
Strong heavy vehicle maintenance and repair experience
Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience is advantageous
Robust communication and leadership capabilities
Commitment to safety, quality and customer service
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment
