Business Development Manager – Plumbing & Trade Supplies
My client is an established Australian distributor supplying plumbing and trade products across Sydney.
They have a strong existing customer base and a broad product range across plumbing, drainage, water, valves, fittings and associated trade products.
They are now looking for an experienced sales skilled to take ownership of a Sydney territory and build on what is already there.
The Role
This is a genuine external sales role with a strong mix of account management and new business development.
You'll spend the majority of your time in the field visiting plumbers, builders, developers, maintenance businesses and trade customers, strengthening existing relationships while actively looking for new opportunities.
There is already a customer base in place, but this isn't a role where you simply drive around taking repeat orders.
You'll be expected to identify new customers, understand who they currently buy from and give them a reason to move their business across.
You'll have the product range, support and existing accounts behind you — your job is to build the relationships and grow the territory.
Responsibilities
Managing and growing an established Sydney territory
Building relationships with plumbers, builders, developers and trade businesses
Identifying and winning new accounts
Growing existing customer spend and uncovering new opportunities
Providing customers with product, pricing and supply solutions
Understanding competitor activity and finding opportunities to win market share
Managing your own pipeline, appointments and territory activity
About You




I'm looking to speak with sales professionals who already understand the plumbing supply industry and can hit the ground running.
You may currently be working for a plumbing wholesaler, manufacturer, distributor or another supplier selling into the plumbing and construction trade.
What matters most is that you understand the market, know how to build relationships and are comfortable picking up the phone or walking through the door to win new business.
Qualifications
External sales or BDM experience within plumbing or trade supplies
Existing relationships across the Sydney plumbing market
Strong knowledge of plumbing products and the trade supply environment
A proven ability to win new business, not just manage existing accounts
Confidence dealing with plumbers, business owners and decision makers
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
A personable, driven approach to sales
What's On Offer
$90,000 – $120,000 base + Super
