Job Description
Join Legrand's manufacturing team in Prestons, NSW and play a key role in keeping our operations running at their best.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll work on a diverse range of production equipment, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to projects that enhance efficiency, reliability and performance across the site.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll have the opportunity to apply your trade skills in a hands-on workplace where your expertise is valued, your ideas are encouraged, and your contribution makes a real impact.
Whether you're solving complex mechanical issues, improving machinery performance or supporting new equipment installations, you'll be part of a team committed to safety, innovation and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
Performing preventative and breakdown maintenance on production equipment and machinery
Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maximise equipment performance
Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Assisting with equipment upgrades, installations and plant improvement projects
Fabricating, modifying and improving machinery, jigs and fixtures
Working closely with production teams to improve efficiency and plant performance
Supporting a strong safety culture and maintaining high housekeeping standards
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing facility
About you
Mechanical Trade Qualification / Qualified Fitter
Experience in a maintenance fitting role, ideally within manufacturing or industrial environments
Robust fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities
Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Welding and fabrication skills




Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
A proactive approach to safety, quality and continuous improvement
Strong team player with a hands-on attitude and positive work ethic
Forklift and/or EWP licence will be highly regarded
