Social Worker Senior - Maternity and Neonatology (Identified)
This is an identified position.Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act **** (Qld), this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
The Social Worker Senior – Maternity and Neonatology (Identified) provides high-level social work services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their families accessing Women's and Newborn Services within the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Metro North Health.
Working within culturally safe models of care, including the Ngarrama Maternity Group Practice and Women's Business Shared Pathway, the role supports improved health, wellbeing, cultural outcomes and engagement with healthcare services.
The successful candidate will work in partnership with women, families and multidisciplinary teams to deliver culturally responsive psychosocial support across hospital and community settings.
The role requires a high level of autonomy in managing complex clinical presentations, while also providing leadership, supervision, advocacy and support to enhance culturally safe service delivery and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity outcomes.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
Provide high-level, evidence-based and culturally safe social work services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families across the maternity and neonatal continuum of care.
Apply advanced clinical knowledge in areas including domestic and family violence,
child protection, grief and loss, psychosocial assessment, risk assessment and safety planning.
Work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers, midwives, allied health professionals and community partners to support positive health and cultural outcomes.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural protocols, kinship systems, Women's Business, Men's Business and culturally responsive practice.
Provide clinical supervision, education, advocacy and leadership while contributing to service development, health equity initiatives and culturally safe models of care.
