The Maintenance Officer supports the Manager in maintaining all physical and technology aspects of the organisation's buildings, infrastructure and equipment. This includes maintaining full compliance requirements, identifying and managing all aspects of work health and safety (WHS).

Key responsibilities
Coordinate the activities of the maintenance team and contractors
Conduct equipment inspections to identify and facilitate or conduct repair of machinery
Identify machine faults or building hazards and initiate repairs and adjustments
Log entries into a WHS issues register and manage WHS issues
Assist with internal and external WHS audits in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager
Perform daily and weekly inspections of facility to ensure smooth operations
Perform or oversee periodic maintenance and calibration of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems and equipment
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential and actual hazards around building and premises
Maintain accurate records of maintenance operations and present reports of daily activities to upper management
Be available on call for unplanned issues or emergencies relating to facility maintenance

About you
Previous experience in Maintenance roles
Qualification in Work Health and Safety desirable




Able to instruct current staff in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) protocols
Knowledge of Aged Care Standards (ACQS) and Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission
Ability to operate within budgets for planned and unplanned maintenance and capital expenditure
Ability to adjust sequence of duties with reasonable flexibility according to residents' and organisational requirements
Consistently use resources and equipment economically and safely
Identify own learning needs and act to maintain or improve skills to meet care standards
