BARD Engineering is a well-established Australian heavy engineering business that has supported the mining and resources industries for more than 30 years.
We are looking for a motivated person to join our Archerfield workshop as an Apprentice Boilermaker and build a long-term career in engineering fabrication.
This is a four-year apprenticeship combining practical, hands-on workshop experience with formal TAFE training, leading to a nationally recognised trade qualification.
The Chance
Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will develop practical skills across heavy steel fabrication, including:
Marking out and interpreting drawings
Cutting, preparing and forming steel
Welding and fabrication
Grinding and finishing
Operating workshop machinery, power tools and hand tools
Measuring and checking completed work
Learning safe workshop and fabrication practices
Assisting with the manufacture and repair of heavy engineering and mining equipment
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Is genuinely interested in becoming a qualified Boilermaker
Enjoys practical, hands-on work
Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn
Has a positive attitude and good work ethic
Can follow instructions and work safely
Has positive attention to detail
Works well as part of a team
Has reliable transport to and from our Archerfield workshop
Previous fabrication experience isn't essential. However, school-based engineering studies, a Certificate II/pre-apprenticeship, work experience or exposure to metal fabrication will be highly regarded.
What You Can Expect
You will work a 38-hour week, including your required TAFE training, with opportunities for overtime when available.
Most importantly, you'll be learning your trade in a genuine heavy-engineering setting alongside experienced Boilermakers and other tradespeople, giving you exposure to real manufacturing and fabrication work throughout your apprenticeship.
If you're ready to start a career in engineering fabrication and want the opportunity to become a qualified Boilermaker with BARD Engineering, we'd like to hear from you.
Apply with your resume and a short introduction telling us why you want to start a Boilermaker apprenticeship.
