Yard Hand / Heavy Machinery Operator – Entry Level
$***** per hour
Monday to Friday
6:30am – 4:00pm
Overtime paid accordingly
Our client is seeking a motivated and reliable Yard Hand to join their busy recycling yard in Northgate.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is mechanically minded and interested in developing a long-term career operating heavy machinery.
You will initially start in a Yard Hand role to learn the site, materials, safety procedures and day-to-day yard operations.
Once trained and assessed as competent, you will have the opportunity to progress into operating heavy machinery including excavators, front-end loaders, material handlers and dozers.

Duties




General yard duties and material handling
Sorting and grading recyclable metals
Loading and unloading trucks, skip bins and trailers
Operating a counterbalance forklift
Assisting with dismantling and preparing materials for recycling
Providing good customer service to customers entering the site
Learning site procedures and safe machinery operations
Progressing into excavator, front-end loader, material handler and dozer operation
Keeping the yard clean, secure and organised
Following all WHS policies and procedures
What You Will Need
Current LF Forklift Licence – essential
Counterbalance forklift experience
Excavator and/or front-end loader tickets highly desirable
Previous heavy machinery or yard experience desirable
Mechanically minded with a willingness to learn
Comfortable working outdoors in a busy recycling yard
Strong commitment to workplace safety
Reliable, punctual and hardworking
Valuable attitude and ability to work as part of a team
