About the Role
n
We are seeking an experienced Supervisor Fleet Design for a six-month contract opportunity based in Marsden Park, with a possible extension.
n
This role will lead and coordinate projects involving the design and development of firefighting and specialised fleet and appliances, combining technical project delivery with hands-on team supervision.
n
The supervisory component is a key part of the role, with responsibility for leading and supporting two direct reports while coordinating engineering activities, stakeholders, suppliers and technical deliverables.
n
The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to apply for the position should it be advertised as a permanent role during or following the interim engagement.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead and coordinate fleet design and development projects from planning through implementation.
n
Coordinate engineering tasks, technical specifications and project deliverables.
n
Supervise, mentor and develop two direct reports.
n
Manage project planning, resources, costs, risks and reporting.
n
Review vehicle designs, drawings, specifications and relevant standards.
n
Identify and manage technical, safety, quality and financial risks.
n
Work closely with engineers, technicians, suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
n
Identify opportunities for fleet innovation and continuous improvement.
n
Ensure fleet solutions are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
n
Provide technical and operational guidance to support project outcomes.
n
Build effective relationships across technical,
operational and stakeholder groups.
n

About You
n
We are ideally looking for candidates with experience in some or all of the following:
n
n
Mechanical, automotive or supply chain engineering.
n
Emergency services and/or defence environments.
n
Heavy vehicles and/or specialised vehicles.
n
Vehicle design, engineering or fleet-related projects.
n
AutoCAD, Autodesk or similar drafting/design software.
n
Supervisory or technical leadership experience.
n
Project management, technical problem solving and risk management.
n
Working with engineers, technicians, suppliers and contractors.
n
n
Experience in an emergency services environment is desirable. However, candidates with solid defence, heavy vehicle or specialised fleet experience may also be considered where their skills are transferable.
n
An Advanced Diploma in a relevant technical field, such as mechanical, civil, electrical or mechatronic engineering, or equivalent technical expertise, is desirable.
