Lead a team - Experienced Storyteller - Digital Designer & Video Editor
Your Energy Answers is looking for an experienced
Creative Storyteller / Digital Designer & Video Editor
to join our growing media team in
Kings Park, Western Sydney
.
This is a hands-on production role for someone who can film, edit and tell a strong story. Most video jobs want someone to show up, point a camera and hand the footage over. This is not that job.
We're looking for a Digital Designer & Video Editor who lives in Adobe, thinks visually and understands how to turn a complex topic into something people actually want to watch.
Your Energy Answers is a fast-growing YouTube channel and media platform built around energy — solar, batteries, EVs, the electricity grid and the future of how we power our lives. Our content reaches a mainstream Australian audience and we're building something that matters.
The person we need spends quite some time at a desk — designing, editing, building motion graphics and crafting long form YouTube content that holds attention from start to finish. When the work calls for it, you'll occasionally head out on location to film interviews, docu-style videos, site visits or product demonstrations. But in the office, that's where you lead a team of 2 more junior staff.
About the Role
Taking scripted, pre-cut dialogue and building it into a finished YouTube video — with music, sound design, colour grading, captions, motion graphics and visual storytelling that keeps people watching.
Designing and animating infographics, data visualisations, lower thirds, title sequences and on-screen graphics that make complex energy topics clear and engaging.
Creating thumbnails that earn the click. Suggesting titles that actually get opened. Thinking about viewer retention at every stage of the edit — not just whether it looks good, but whether someone keeps watching.
When needed, heading out on location to film interviews, factory tours, site visits or events. You won't do this every day, but you need to be comfortable and skilled doing it.
What we're looking for
You're a designer who edits, or an editor who designs. Either way, Adobe is your natural environment. You're comfortable in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop. You understand motion, typography, colour and pacing. You know what makes a YouTube video work — not just visually, but psychologically.
You don't need to come from a video production background. A design agency, marketing studio, social content team or in-house creative role is just as relevant. What matters is that you're visually sharp, creatively confident and genuinely interested in the subject matter.
Minimum 2-3 years working professionally in a design or video editing role. Current driver's licence. Ability to work in person from Kings Park, Western Sydney most of the time.
What we offer
A platform that's growing fast. Content that actually matters. A small, tight team. Real creative ownership over the work. And the prospect to build something you can point to and be proud of.
Key Responsibilities
Film interviews, site visits, factory tours, product demonstrations and documentary-style content
Capture high-quality B-roll that supports the story
Edit long-form YouTube videos from raw footage
Create short-form social media clips when required
Build videos with a clear beginning, middle and end
Improve pacing, viewer retention and emotional impact
Add titles, captions, motion graphics, effects and visual overlays
Select and mix music and sound effects
Clean and improve dialogue audio
Colour correct and grade footage
Work with presenters, interviewees, sponsors and partners
Help plan shoots before filming starts
Manage footage, proxies, project files and exports properly
Deliver work to deadlines
Support other editors and help lift the overall production standard
Travel for filming assignments across Sydney, NSW and occasionally interstate
Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with:
Minimum 2-3 years of professional video production/editing/motion graphic experience
Camera operation skills
Strong editing skills
Professional-level Adobe Premiere Pro experience
Good working knowledge of Adobe After Effects
Experience with Adobe tools such as Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator or Media Encoder
Strong understanding of storytelling and video structure
Strong understanding of sound, music and dialogue mixing
Ability to film interviews with clean audio and good composition
Ability to light interviews in real-world environments
Ability to shoot handheld and run-and-gun footage
Good title, graphic and effects skills
Good colour correction and grading ability
Strong attention to detail
Strong file organisation and project management habits
Current driver's licence
Ability to work in person from Kings Park, NSW
Willingness to travel across Australia for assignments when required
The type of person we're looking for
The right person will be creative, practical, organised and reliable. You should be comfortable working with real people, not actors, and able to solve problems quickly on location.
You should enjoy taking ownership of a project, accept feedback without ego, and care about the details that make a video feel professional. You also need to be comfortable working for film shoots in real-world environments such as factories, warehouses, trade shows, commercial sites and outdoor locations.
Location
This is an in-person role based in
Kings Park, Western Sydney
. You must be able to work from the office/studio several days per week and travel to shoots when required.
