About the Role
As a Biosecurity Officer, you will undertake a diverse range of field-based, regulatory and advisory activities that support the management of animal and plant biosecurity across the region.
Working closely with landholders, industry, government agencies and community stakeholders, you'll contribute to compliance programs, surveillance activities and biosecurity initiatives that help build resilient and productive landscapes.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering biosecurity programs and regulatory activities relating to pest animals and Animal Health disease management.
Undertaking surveillance, investigation and compliance activities.
Providing practical advice and support to landholders and stakeholders on biosecurity matters.
Supporting emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities.
Maintaining accurate records, data and reporting to support program delivery.
Building strong relationships with customers, industry and partner agencies to achieve positive biosecurity outcomes.
About You
You are a practical, customer-focused professional who enjoys working in the field and building strong relationships with landholders, industry and community stakeholders.
You bring experience in biosecurity,
agriculture, natural resource management or a related field, along with the ability to communicate clearly, apply sound judgement and deliver positive outcomes in a dynamic environment.
Essential requirements include:
Current NSW Class C Driver Licence and willingness to travel.
Relevant qualifications for pesticide application.
Capacity to obtain a NSW Firearms Licence and required firearms accreditation.
Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or the ability to successfully complete the qualification.
Ability to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act.
Strong communication, customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver results in a field-based environment.
