About Us
Irfan College is a co-educational independent Islamic school located in the Southwest Sydney suburb of Cecil Park. The College was established in **** and is a single-stream school servicing Kindergarten to Year 12 students.
Irfan College aspires to bring 'a breath of fresh air' to the sector through numerous authentic projects such as the Islamic Integration project which aims to integrate the Islamic Worldview into pedagogical practices and the Australian Curriculum.
Irfan College is a strong advocate of holistic education that acknowledges the unique backgrounds of students which is reflected in all aspects of our school community. Irfan College is seeking an experienced educator for our Faith & Service department role willing to contribute to the vision and ethos of our school and become an active agent in the service of the next generation of Australian Muslims. The Coordinator must have experience and a passion for Islamic studies and Quran.
Position
We are seeking a committed and experienced Faith and Service Coordinator to lead and strengthen the Islamic identity, values and culture of our K–12 College. The successful candidate will foster a strong culture of faith, character and community, supporting a shared sense of purpose, belonging and engagement across all aspects of College life.
Working closely with the Principal, Executive Team, staff, students, families and the wider community, the successful candidate will lead initiatives that strengthen Islamic education, faith formation, student character, service learning and community engagement across the College.
The ideal candidate will be a committed Islamic educator and strategic leader who can inspire others, build strong relationships and contribute meaningfully to the College's mission, vision and continued growth.

Responsibilities
Areas of immediate responsibility of the Faith & Service Coordinator will include, but are not limited to the following:




Provide strategic leadership of the Faith & Service Department, including oversight of its programs, staff, priorities and day to day operations.
Provide strategic leadership in Islamic faith, values and culture across the College, ensuring these are reflected in the life and ethos of the College.
Lead and strengthen Islamic Studies and Qur'an education programs, including Qur'anic literacy and Hifz initiatives.
Support the integration of Islamic principles and perspectives across the curriculum, teaching and learning.
Teach Islamic Studies and/or Qur'an as part of an allocated teaching load, and oversee the teaching and learning programs for these subjects across Years K–12.
Oversee assessment, reporting and the monitoring of student academic progress within Islamic Studies, Qur'an & LOTE.
Coordinate Islamic events, celebrations, mosque activities and faith based programs across the College.
Lead service learning initiatives that develop student leadership, character, compassion and social responsibility.
Lead staff formation, induction and professional learning in Islamic beliefs, values and practices.
Foster a collegial, collaborative and professional culture that supports team effectiveness, staff development and the effective fulfilment of roles, responsibilities and duties.
Build robust partnerships with families, community organisations, faith groups and educational institutions to strengthen the College's faith and service mission.
Contribute to strategic planning, school improvement, program evaluation and effective resource management.
Promote a culture of reflection, innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement across the Department and the College.
Criteria
A strong commitment to Islamic values,



the mission of Islamic education, and the vision and Islamic ethos of the school.
Deep knowledge of Islamic theology, values and educational philosophy.
Experience and passion for teaching Islamic Studies and Qur'an.
Relevant experience in Islamic education, faith formation, curriculum leadership, or a related field.
Hold relevant teaching qualifications and experience, including a Bachelor's degree.
Hold at least Proficient Teacher accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
Hold a current and valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) and actively contribute to maintaining a safe learning environment.
Experience and skills in supporting students with varying educational needs.
Demonstrated commitment to nurturing positive relationships, academic growth and a strong sense of community among students, staff and parents.
A commitment to student character development, service, inclusion, respect and excellence.
A community mindset, with the ability to relate well to students, staff, parents and the broader community.
Successful experience in leading a cohesive team, with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to oversee and support staff within a team, while working collaboratively with other members of the school leadership team to develop a positive school culture.
Ability to manage the implementation of key programs across a whole department.
Strong communication, organisational and project management skills.
A willingness to contribute positively as part of a professional learning community.
A commitment to lifelong learning and ongoing career development.
As a Childsafe school, we are committed to high standards of care and practices to ensure the safety and protection of children. Every staff member must have a current NSW Working with Children Check and is required to actively support our school as a safe learning environment.
