About the Accommodation Services Program
This role leads and manages the Accommodation Services Program, which provides accommodation and tenancy support to humanitarian entrants and skilled migrants, and property management for accommodation facilities owned or managed by MRC Tas. The program is dedicated to delivering safe, culturally sensitive accommodation that addresses the unique vulnerabilities and needs of refugees and migrants.

About the role
Reporting to the Executive Manager – Specialised Services, the Manager – Accommodation Services Program is a senior position leading MRC Tas's accommodation facilities in the South of the State, working closely with the MRC Tas leadership team and Program Managers. The role has both an internal and external focus, building partnerships with communities, businesses, community service organisations and other stakeholders to ensure residents have access to safe, well-managed and supportive accommodation.
This position is responsible for accommodation and tenancy management across MRC Tas's Goodwood and New Town sites, including site maintenance and development, tenancy administration and support, resident risk management, and delivery of associated funded projects. The Manager has an Accommodation Officer reporting directly to them, and works closely with a regular maintenance contractor engaged on an ongoing basis, liaising with other contracted providers as required.
Desired Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have:
Significant leadership experience, with strong stakeholder management, negotiation and relationship-building skills across a range of sectors
Experience managing accommodation,
housing or residential sites, ideally supporting culturally diverse or vulnerable populations
Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire, tenancy and building legislation, including processing tenancy agreements, Notices to Vacate and eviction processes
Sound understanding of the needs of Tasmania's new migrant and refugee communities, including housing and tenancy needs
Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills, including the ability to engage confidently with people from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated project management and policy development skills
Sound professional judgement in managing complex interpersonal situations, including resident conflict and risk
A driver's licence and access to own vehicle, with willingness to travel between sites within the Hobart area as required
Availability to participate in the Accommodation Services On Call roster
