Accounts Officer / Office Administrator
.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit team where you'll become the friendly face of the office and play a critical role in keeping the business running smoothly. Reporting directly to the Office Manager, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day accounts and administrative functions while having the opportunity to expand your involvement across HR, marketing, contract administration, and broader business operations.

The Opportunity:
As the Accounts Officer / Office Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the financial and administrative operations of the business. You'll manage key accounts functions, coordinate office activities, assist with scheduling and diary management, and provide support across multiple departments as the business continues to grow.
This is far more than a traditional accounts role. You'll be joining a team where initiative is valued, ideas are welcomed, and there is genuine scope to broaden your skills and career across various areas of the business.
We are looking for a proactive self-starter who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, thrives in a quick-paced environment, and takes pride in being the go-to person within the office.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Assist with invoicing, reconciliations,
and general financial administration
Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payment of accounts
Support month-end reporting and administrative accounting tasks
Maintain accurate financial records within Xero
Coordinate office supplies, equipment, and general office operations
Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments
Assist the Office Manager with day-to-day business administration
Provide administrative support across contract administration activities
Assist with onboarding, employee documentation, and HR administration
Support marketing initiatives, social media updates, and business communications as required
Maintain organised filing systems and company records
Liaise with internal stakeholders, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to business efficiency
About You:
You are highly organised, financially savvy, and genuinely enjoy supporting a busy team. You take ownership of your work, have excellent attention to detail, and aren't afraid to step outside your job description when needed.
Most importantly, you're a positive and personable team player who enjoys building relationships and becoming an integral part of a business.
We're interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
Previous experience in an Accounts Officer, Accounts Administrator, Bookkeeper, Office Administrator, or similar position
Strong experience managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
Proficiency using
Xero
is essential
Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to work confidently with spreadsheets and reporting
Excellent calendar, scheduling, and time management capabilities
Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A proactive, self-motivated, and solutions-focused mindset
Ability to comfortably manage multiple priorities and responsibilities
Professional, friendly, and approachable personality
Experience within construction, trades, engineering, or project-based environments
is advantageous but not essential
