Operated by Hunter Primary Care, headspace Newcastle provides early intervention mental health, physical health, drug and alcohol and work and study services to ***** year olds across the Hunter Region.
About the role
We are seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join our multidisciplinary headspace Newcastle team on a 0.6 FTE basis, delivering evidence-based, clinical care to young people experiencing mental health difficulties.
Duties:
Engage young people aged ***** using relational, strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally, safe biopsychosocial and risk assessments.
Develop clinical formulations informed by assessment findings and collaboratively create, implement, and review individualised care plans and therapeutic goals that respond to each young person's unique strengths, needs and circumstances.
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical services, including brief interventions, single-session support, individual therapeutic interventions and other treatment approaches tailored to the young person's presentation, goals and stage of recovery.
Deliver Family/Carer Inclusive therapeutic sessions where appropriate to support the person within their network.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and participate in case review
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with headspace and HPC standards
Skills and experience
Current AHPRA registration (Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist) or AASW accreditation (Mental Health Social Worker)
Demonstrated experience working with young people and mental health presentations
Strong assessment, risk management and case management skills
Sound understanding of early intervention and youth-friendly service models
Experience working and engaging with diverse populations including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, members of the LGBTQ+ community and those from a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Current NSW Working with Children Check clearance
