Job Description
Preschool Room Leader / Educational Leader | 4-Day Week | $43-$55ph
Caringbah South | Diploma or ECT | Start now or January ****
If you're an experienced preschool educator who loves being in the room but is ready for more influence, this is one of the better leadership opportunities I've worked on in the Sutherland Shire.
I'm partnering with a beautiful, privately owned service in Caringbah South to find an experienced Preschool Room Leader, with the chance to also take on Educational Leader responsibilities.
What makes this opportunity different is the flexibility around the role.
You can work four longer days or a traditional five-day week, and if you take on the Educational Leader component, you'll receive at least five hours of protected time each week to focus properly on mentoring, practice and continuous improvement.
Why this role is worth considering
$43-$55 per hour, depending on experience and qualification
Choice of a four-day or five-day working week
Around ***** children in the preschool room
At least five hours of protected Educational Leader time each week
Open to experienced Diploma-qualified educators and ECTs
Work alongside an existing ECT within the preschool room
Supportive, hands-on leadership within a privately owned service
Genuine opportunity to progress as the organisation grows
Flexibility around starting now or planning a move for January ****
About the centre
This is a family-run, boutique early learning service with a solid reputation locally and a warm, established team.
The centre has been thoughtfully designed around natural and purpose-built learning spaces, with a strong focus on play, children's interests and meaningful relationships with families.
The preschool program combines play-based learning with school readiness, incorporating literacy, numeracy,
problem-solving and social development in a way that still allows children to explore and lead their own learning.
You'll also have accessible leadership around you.
The owner comes from an early childhood teaching background and remains closely involved in the service, so educational quality and supporting the team are genuinely significant.
The role
You'll take ownership of the preschool room and lead the educators within it, working closely with the Centre Director and wider leadership team.
You'll be responsible for:
Creating a positive, well-organised preschool environment
Supporting and mentoring the educators within your room
Developing engaging, intentional and play-based learning experiences
Building strong relationships with children and families
Supporting programming, observations and documentation
Encouraging critical reflection and continuous improvement
Maintaining robust supervision and regulatory practice
Leading by example and helping create a positive team culture
Interested in Educational Leadership?
For someone with the right experience, the role can also incorporate Educational Leader responsibilities across the centre.
You'll receive at least five dedicated hours each week to support educators, strengthen curriculum and practice, contribute to the QIP and help the team continue developing their approach to quality.
Importantly, this doesn't mean stepping away from the children and becoming purely administrative.
You'll still have your own preschool room while gaining broader leadership exposure across the service.
About you
You might already be a Room Leader or Educational Leader, or you could be an experienced senior educator who's ready for the next step.
You'll ideally have:
An approved Diploma or Bachelor qualification in Early Childhood Education
Strong experience working within a preschool environment
A good understanding of the EYLF, NQS and National Regulations
Confidence supporting and mentoring other educators
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A current NSW Working With Children Check
Full Australian working rights
Previous formal leadership experience is highly regarded, although someone with strong preschool experience, initiative and natural leadership capability would also be considered.
Thinking about a move in ****?
You don't necessarily need to leave your current centre immediately.
If you're planning to finish the year with your current team and make a move in January, I'd still be very happy to speak with you now.
