About the role
The Radiation Therapy Nurse plays a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing care to oncology patients undergoing cancer treatment with a focus on those receiving radiation therapy.
Working closely with the Oncology team, the nurses support every stage of the patient journey by assisting with anaesthesia monitoring for radiation therapy under Veterinary supervision, tracking patient progress and clinical trends,
and provide education and guidance to pet owners regarding treatment plans, potential side effects, and home care needs.
Our Radiation Therapy Nurses have daily hands-on involvement with our patients, building meaningful connections and becoming an integral part of their treatment experience at SASH.
To be considered for this position, applicants will need to demonstrate
A Cert 4 in Veterinary Nursing with min. 3 years of experience as a qualified Veterinary Nurse
A keen interest in expanding nursing knowledge in areas of Radiation Therapy and Oncology
Confidence with anaesthesia and monitoring sedations
Confidence with venipuncture
Fear free patient handling techniques
Excellent client communication skills
Ability to manage and prioritise tasks efficiently
Have a high level of compassion, enthusiasm and initiative
Desirable but not essential:
Experience working in specialist veterinary hospital
Interest in learning safe chemotherapy handling techniques
