Job Description
Following several years of uninterrupted growth, C4X Technology Architects is expanding our Sydney team and seeking an experienced, hands‐on System Administrator.
C4X is a leading MSP supporting globally recognised brands across Australia.

We are looking for a System Administrator with 5+ years' experience, ideally within an MSP and supporting clients in the automotive industry, who can take ownership of customer infrastructure administration, support, and continuous improvement.
You will work across Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, Active Directory, Windows Server, virtualisation, networking, and endpoint management, providing escalation support and helping maintain secure, stable, and high‐performing environments.
This role suits someone who has supported multiple SMB environments and is looking to broaden their experience within larger mid‐market and enterprise organisations.
Strong troubleshooting skills, infrastructure fundamentals, and a willingness to learn are essential.
About the Role
This is primarily an operational System Administrator role with opportunities to contribute to infrastructure projects, migrations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will be responsible for maintaining customer environments, resolving escalated issues, identifying recurring problems, and implementing long‐term solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and support Windows Server, including maintenance, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Intune environments.
Support VMware and/or Hyper‐V virtualisation platforms.
Provide L3 escalation support across infrastructure, endpoint, identity, networking, and Microsoft 365 technologies.
Monitor infrastructure health, performance, capacity, availability, backups, and security.
Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
Troubleshoot networking technologies including switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless environments.
Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement long‐term solutions to recurring issues.
Support infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, technology refreshes, and change activities.
Use PowerShell and automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual administration.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles.
Collaborate with engineers, vendors, and technology partners to resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement.
Participate in planned maintenance and occasional after‐hours support when required.
Key Responsibilities
Keep customer infrastructure secure, secure and well maintained.
Take ownership of escalated technical issues and drive them through to resolution.
Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure risks before they become incidents.
Reduce recurring incidents through Root Cause Analysis and permanent fixes.
Maintain high‐quality documentation.
Help improve the technical capability of the wider Service Desk.
Automate repetitive administration wherever practical.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement and standardisation of customer environments.
Skill & Experience
5+ years' experience in System Administration, Infrastructure Support, or Systems Engineering.
Previous MSP experience.
Experience supporting automotive, healthcare, and construction clients.
Experience managing multiple customer environments and competing priorities.
Experience administering Microsoft 365.
Microsoft Technologies
Strong knowledge of Intune, including device management, compliance, application deployment, updates, endpoint security, and AppLocker.
Working knowledge of Entra ID, MFA, and Conditional Access.
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Autopilot.
Cyber Security
Strong knowledge of security solutions including Huntress, Perception Point, Deep Instinct, DefenceX, and DNSFilter.
Windows Infrastructure
Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Experience supporting VMware and/or Hyper‐V environments, including hosts, storage, snapshots, performance, and availability.
Networking
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and Wi‐Fi.
Communications & Automation
Strong knowledge of 3CX, Microsoft Teams, and PowerShell.
Ability to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Troubleshooting & Ownership
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ownership of issues through to resolution.
Experience performing RCA and implementing permanent fixes.
Ability to prioritise work across multiple environments.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
