About the role
n
We are seeking a compassionate, professional, and proactive Medical Receptionist to join our energetic primary care team. As the first point of contact for patients, the Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment while efficiently managing front-desk operations, patient enquiries, appointments, and administrative tasks. The successful candidate will help ensure the clinic operates smoothly, professionally, and efficiently.

Key responsibilities
n
Welcome patients warmly, manage a high volume of phone calls, respond to enquiries, and provide compassionate support to patients who may be anxious, unwell, or distressed
n
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments while effectively managing daily practitioner calendars and clinic bookings
n
Process patient payments, assist with invoicing, and coordinate Medicare rebates, insurance claims, and related administrative requirements
n




Maintain strict patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with relevant legislation and clinic policies
n
Ensure the reception and waiting areas are clean, safe, and welcoming
n
Complete a range of general administrative duties to support the clinical team and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice
n
About you
n
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a busy, fast-paced medical environment
n
Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations and de‐escalate challenging situations professionally
n
Proficiency in practice management systems and general computer applications, with the ability to learn new software quickly
n
A strong understanding of patient confidentiality, privacy, professional boundaries, and ethical standards
n
A friendly, patient-focused approach with the ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional at all times
