We are seeking a
Senior Aboriginal Family Practitioner
or
Aboriginal Family Practitioner
to join our
Keswick
team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your cultural knowledge and professional expertise to make a meaningful difference to Aboriginal children and families through responsive and inclusive child protection practice within the DCP Call Centre.
This is a
single vacancy offered under a dual classification
. The successful applicant will be appointed at the appropriate classification level based on their qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role.
A degree level qualification in
Social Work
which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
As a Senior Aboriginal Family Practitioner, you will:
Lead culturally responsive support and intervention for Aboriginal families with complex needs
Work with families to identify concerns and develop pathways to positive outcomes
Contribute to service evaluation,



improvement and the development of recent approaches
Develop innovative and culturally appropriate approaches to service delivery.
As an Aboriginal Family Practitioner, you will:
Receive information and contribute to assessments of child protection concerns involving Aboriginal families
Deliver culturally appropriate guidance to families, notifiers and professionals
Build strong relationships with Aboriginal families, communities and key stakeholders
Provide culturally informed advice and support to departmental staff.
We are looking for someone who brings:
Strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture, communities and culturally responsive practice
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
The ability to manage competing priorities and solve complex problems
Knowledge of child development, crisis intervention and managing risk in statutory or community settings.
For appointment at the
Senior Aboriginal Family Practitioner
classification, you will also demonstrate the ability to lead service development, provide specialist advice and support colleagues and stakeholders.
Salary:
AHP2
$94,997 - $110,052 /
AHP1
$73,710 - $89,981 p.a. + 12% super
+4% child protection allowance
+Professional Development Allowance
+QualificationAllowance may applyif you hold anadditionalqualificationrelevant to the role.
AHP2
positions are also entitled to claim reimbursement of eligible professional development expenses through the Professional Development Allowance.
