About us:

The New State Special School at Logan Reserve is a brand-new Prep to Year 12 special school opening in ****. Co-located alongside a new state secondary school, our school will provide a dedicated learning environment for students with disability while establishing its own identity, culture and approach to excellence in teaching and learning.

Your opportunity: As Head of Department (Curriculum):You will work collaboratively with the Principal and leadership team to lead high-quality curriculum implementation, strengthen teacher capability and build a culture of continuous improvement.
n
You will lead the implementation of the Australian Curriculum, ensuring all students can access learning through appropriate adjustments, accessible curriculum design and responsive teaching practices.
n
You will support teachers to design and deliver engaging, accessible and personalised learning experiences that recognise the strengths, communication, interests and needs of every learner.
n
You will lead consistent moderation practices to ensure alignment with the Australian Curriculum and support teachers to make informed, evidence-based judgements about student learning.
n
You will drive evidence-informed pedagogy and support teachers to provide appropriate adjustments, monitor student progress and maximise learning, communication, independence and participation for students with diverse and complex learning needs.
n
As an instructional leader, you will use coaching, collaboration, data and professional learning to build teacher capability and embed consistent, high-impact teaching practices across the school.

You will design and facilitate professional learning aligned to curriculum and pedagogy,
supporting staff to confidently implement adjustments and deliver high-quality instruction for all learners.
n
You will support a culture where every student is known, expectations are high, and success is recognised through growth, achievement and meaningful engagement. A key focus of this role will be establishing whole-school curriculum processes, including planning, assessment, moderation, reporting and quality assurance systems.

As part of the foundation team, you will contribute beyond curriculum leadership , helping establish the culture, relationships, partnerships and ways of working that define our new school community. You will work alongside students, families, staff and community partners to create a school where everyone feels welcomed, valued and connected.

Success in this role requires strong curriculum knowledge, strategic thinking, relational leadership and the ability to lead change. You will be collaborative, flexible and solutions-focused, with the confidence to build systems and practices in a new and evolving school setting. Interested?
