About The Opportunity
As our Building Community Capacity Lead, you will play a central role in how the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local connects with the community, shaping experiences and supporting meaningful engagement. This role blends people leadership with community connection and capacity building. You will develop strong relationships across services and community groups, represent the service with warmth, and help strengthen community understanding of mental health and wellbeing. You will support co design, invite community voices into our work, and contribute to shaping how the Local continues to evolve.
About You
You are a thoughtful, empathetic leader who thrives in collaborative environments. You bring a genuine curiosity about people and communities and have a natural ability to connect with diverse groups, understand different perspectives and create inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued.
2+ years senior mental health leadership experience, including senior Lived Experience Roles




2+ years Community Engagement / Community Development Experience or similar role
Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate staff while driving and sustaining system change
Proven ability to embed lived experience and peer work principles across service models, using data and insights to identify trends and inform practice
Evidence of right to work in Australia
Current driver licence and willingness to undertake travel as part of the role
Satisfactory National Police Check, Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to undertake
NDIS Workers Orientation module certificate - free online course

Wellways, in partnership with APMHA Healthcare and GV Health, is excited to be working together across Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, and Moira to strengthen mental health and wellbeing support across the region. Together, we're aiming to offer services that meet the unique needs of individuals in our community, whenever and wherever they are needed. Lived experience, inclusivity, and genuine collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are free, voluntary and easy to access, with no referral needed. With a no wrong door approach and a focus on choice and connection,



these protected and welcoming spaces make it easier for people to get the support they need - close to home, family and community.
