Carpentaria Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Leading Hand to join our Engineering Services team based at the Normanton Depot.
n
This is a hands-on leadership role supporting the Workshop Foreman with the day-to-day coordination of workshop activities, while providing technical guidance and support to Diesel Fitters and Apprentice Diesel Fitters.

About the Role
n
As Workshop Leading Hand, you will:
n
n
Coordinate daily workshop jobs and monitor work progress.
n
Provide hands‐on mechanical and technical support to workshop staff.
n
Guide and mentor fitters and apprentices.
n
Assist with maintenance scheduling, repairs and project work.
n
Undertake diagnostics, repairs, welding, hydraulics and general mechanical maintenance.
n
Carry out work in the workshop and at Council worksites and remote camps.
n
Support the Workshop Foreman with maintaining a secure, organised and productive workshop.
n

To Be Successful You Will Have
n
n
A recognised Mechanical Trade Certificate in Diesel Fitting, Heavy Commercial Vehicles or Light Vehicle Maintenance.
n
Demonstrated mechanical servicing, maintenance and fault‐finding experience.
n
Experience working with heavy vehicles, machinery and hydraulic systems.
n
The ability to lead, communicate effectively and provide guidance to other employees.
n
A minimum Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver Licence, Multi Combination (MC) desirable.
n
Heavy machinery tickets or a willingness to obtain them.
n
Salary: $103,****** – $***** per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience), plus superannuation and applicable allowances in accordance with the Carpentaria Shire Council Certified Agreement.
