Job Description
You'll be the driving force behind day-to-day operations — the person who sets the tone for the team, keeps service running smoothly during our busiest periods, and makes sure every guest leaves happy. This is a role for someone who genuinely loves hospitality, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in running a tight, well-loved venue.
n
Key responsibilities
n
Leading, rostering, and engaging front-of-house staff across breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
n
Overseeing daily floor operations to ensure fast, friendly, and consistent guest experiences
n
Recruiting, training, and developing team members, and building a strong shift-leader bench
n
Managing stock control, supplier ordering, and cost of goods for beverages and front-of-house consumables
n
Handling cash reconciliation, POS management, and daily/weekly reporting
n
Resolving customer feedback and complaints professionally and promptly
n
Ensuring full compliance with food safety, RSA, WHS, and liquor licensing requirements
n
Working closely with the kitchen team and owners to maintain quality, consistency, and venue standards
n
Driving rosters and labour costs in line with budget targets
n
Supporting marketing and community initiatives to build repeat custom and local reputation
n
About you
n
2+ years' experience as a Restaurant Manager or senior Assistant Manager in a busy, high-volume venue
n

Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, coach, and get the best out of a team
n
Strong understanding of P&L;, cost control, rostering, and stock management
n
Current RSA (and RSF if applicable in your state)
n
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, especially during high-pressure service
n
A calm, organised, and hands-on approach — happy to be on the floor, not just behind a desk
n
Experience with POS systems and rostering software
n
Flexibility to work the venue's operating days, including Saturdays and Sundays
n
Full working rights in Australia
n
About us
n
Ca Phê Mai (Kiaora Lane, Double Bay) is a contemporary Vietnamese all-day cafe and evening wine bar in Double Bay. Specialty coffee, banh mi and pho run Tuesday to Sunday. Each evening the room shifts into dinner: small plates built for sharing and a natural wine list that leans towards low-intervention growers. We're known for our warm hospitality, buzzing atmosphere, and a menu that keeps regulars coming back.
n
Competitive salary package, negotiable based on experience
n
Staff meals and generous team discounts
n
A supportive, close-knit team and hands-on ownership
n
Genuine opportunity to grow with the business as it expands
n
A well-established venue with a loyal, growing customer base
