MAYDAY Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a fast-growing Australian insurtech to recruit a Finance & Operations Analyst into their growing team.
n
This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded finance or operations professional to step into a broad, high-impact role with genuine ownership, with the opportunity to help shape processes as the business continues to grow.
n
You'll support a range of financial, operational and reconciliation taskswhile taking ownership of key reporting, cash management and process improvement activities.
n
The Opportunity
n
This is a varied role that sits across finance, operations, analysis and process improvement.
n
You'll be responsible for ensuring the business has strong financial processes and reporting in place, supporting cash flow and forecasting, and identifying opportunities to make the way the business operates more efficient.
n
A key part of the role will involve overseeing the organisation's premium collection and reconciliation processes, working with external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensuring financial information is accurate.
n
However, the role extends well beyond this. You'll have the opportunity to work with AI-driven technology, support automation initiatives, contribute to strategic projects and gain exposure across risk, compliance and broader business operations.
n

Key Responsibilities
n
Finance & Reporting
n
n
Support monthly financial reporting and management information
n
Assist with forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management
n
Monitor the organisation's cash position and provide relevant insights
n
Assist with business performance reporting and financial analysis
n
Prepare accurate financial and settlement reports
n
Support senior leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting
n
n
Cash Management & Reconciliation
n
n
Oversee key cash collection and reconciliation processes
n
Monitor payments and investigate discrepancies or outstanding balances
n
Identify trends and root causes behind financial discrepancies
n
Ensure records and reporting remain accurate and well documented
n
Work with external stakeholders to resolve queries and payment issues
n
n
Process Improvement & Automation
n
n
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and scalability
n
Work with internal
technology/development
teams to enhance existing AI-driven processes
n
Help reduce manual intervention through automation and workflow improvements
n
Review and improve existing processes as the business grows
n
Document procedures and establish best-practice processes
n
n
Operations & Strategic Projects
n
n
Support the COO with broader operational and strategic initiatives
n
Gain exposure to risk and compliance activities
n
Work collaboratively across different areas of the business
n
Provide analytical and operational support on projects and new initiatives
n
Take ownership of projects designed to improve the overall effectiveness of the business
n
n
About You
n
You're a proactive, analytical and commercially minded professional who enjoys taking ownership and figuring out how things can be done better.
n
You may come from a finance, operations, accounting, insurance or corporate environment.
What matters most is that you're comfortable working with numbers and data, can communicate confidently with stakeholders and are excited by the opportunity to take on a broad role within a growing business.
n
You'll ideally bring:
n
n
2–5 years' experience across finance, finance operations, accounting, analysis, reconciliations, insurance operations or a similar environment
n
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
n
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
n
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
n
Strong written and verbal communication skills
n
Confidence engaging with internal and external stakeholders
n
A proactive, hands-on approach and genuine sense of ownership
n
The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
n
An interest in technology, AI, automation and process improvement
n
n
Insurance experience is not essential. We're open to candidates from a range of backgrounds who are dynamic, adaptable and eager to learn.
