The Opportunity

Lead Noosa Council's Local Laws team in delivering effective compliance, education, and enforcement programs that help protect the community's lifestyle, safety, and amenity. This is a rewarding leadership role where you'll manage complex regulatory matters, provide expert advice, and drive continuous improvement across local law services. Working closely with a broad range of stakeholders, you'll play a key role in balancing community outcomes with legislative requirements. $121,071 Base annual salary

$137,425 Total Remuneration Package which is based on a full-time employee and inclusive of 12% Employer superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.

You are an experienced regulatory leader with a strong understanding of local laws, compliance, and enforcement. A confident communicator, you can navigate complex and sensitive matters while delivering practical, community-focused outcomes. Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead and support the Local Laws team to deliver high-quality compliance, investigation, and enforcement services
n
Oversee the administration and enforcement of local laws and relevant legislation, ensuring consistent and legally sound outcomes
n
Build strong relationships with the community, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and promote voluntary compliance
n
Drive continuous improvement, manage team performance and resources, and contribute to the development of local laws, policies, and service delivery initiatives
n
n
Skills and Experience
n
n
Proven experience leading, motivating and developing teams within a regulatory, compliance, enforcement, or operational environment
n
Experience managing team performance, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and achieve operational outcomes
n
Sound understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements, with the ability to interpret and apply laws, policies, and procedures in a practical and consistent manner
n
Experience managing complex compliance matters, investigations, and enforcement activities, including the preparation of professional reports, correspondence, and documentation
n
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and effectively manage challenging conversations and community concerns
n
Well-developed analytical, organisational, and decision-making skills, with experience managing budgets, resources, and competing priorities in a dynamic environment
n

Qualifications
n
n
Relevant tertiary qualification in Regulatory Compliance, Public Administration, Business, Law, Local Government, or a related field.
n
Current Queensland 'C' Class Driver Licence.
n
Project Management and/or regulatory investigations qualification (e.g. Diploma of Government Investigations) (desirable)
n
n
