About the Role

Abbotsleigh is seeking an accomplished and passionate Senior History Teacher to join our thriving History Department from Term 1, ****. Working with highly engaged students and exceptional colleagues, you will bring your expertise in Modern History to a collaborative and well-resourced department that values academic excellence, innovation and qualified growth. Teaching Stage 6 Modern History and supervising Extension History major works
n
Designing inclusive, intellectually stimulating lessons that foster critical thinking, debate, and historical empathy, with a focus on how girls learn best
n
Contributing to curriculum development and departmental planning
n
Supporting students in developing independent research and scholarly writing skills
n
Engaging in pastoral care and supporting student wellbeing
n
Participating in whole-school initiatives and co-curricular programs.

Qualifications

Relevant teaching qualifications and NESA accreditation
n
Demonstrated experience teaching Stage 6 Modern History and Extension History
n
Strong understanding of historiography, inquiry-based learning, and assessment design
n
Excellent communication and organisational skills
n
A collaborative, reflective approach to teaching and learning
