Brunel has been exclusively engaged by a renewable energy developer with a growing Australian portfolio who are currently seeking a
Market Analyst
to support commercial strategy through analysis of energy market dynamics — evaluating PPAs, driving revenue optimisation, and monitoring pricing and policy developments.
The Role
Market analysis
— assess Australian electricity prices, regulatory settings, market trends and competitor activity to identify risks and opportunities.
Trading support
— support generation operations across physical spot and energy trading, front and middle office.
Commercial strategy
— evaluate investment opportunities and project feasibility, and shape strategies to optimise revenue and profitability.
Financial analysis
— assess PPAs and contractual arrangements, and support negotiations, due diligence and stakeholder relationships.
Modelling and forecasting
— build and maintain simulation-ready datasets and forecasting models, including for BESS and hybrid renewable revenue streams.
About You
Qualifications
— Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Commerce, Engineering or related field; postgraduate qualification (MBA, MSc) an advantage.
Experience
— 5+ years in energy market analysis, commercial analysis or related roles, ideally within renewables.
Market knowledge
— strong grasp of Australian energy market dynamics, regulatory frameworks and renewable energy policy; experience in deregulated markets preferred.
Trading exposure
— familiarity with physical spot operations and energy trading in front/middle office roles
Technical skills
— strong financial modelling, revenue forecasting and NPV analysis; experience with Python-based optimisation tools an advantage.
Commercial skills
— demonstrated experience in commercial negotiations and contract management.
Attributes
— excellent communicator, highly organised, cooperative, and genuinely motivated by the energy transition.
