Legal Counsel - Institutional Financial Services

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Australian-qualified lawyer to join a leading global financial services organisation on a 12-month contract basis.
n
This is a broad and commercially focused legal role supporting a sophisticated institutional financial services business. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, providing practical legal advice across commercial agreements, financial services regulation, governance, new products and regulatory change.

The Role
n
You will provide legal support across a range of institutional financial services activities, with a particular focus on:
n
n
Reviewing, drafting and negotiating financial services agreements
n
Providing practical legal advice on Australian financial services laws and regulations
n
Advising senior business stakeholders on legal, regulatory and governance matters
n
Supporting the onboarding of new clients and responding to RFPs and RFIs
n
Assisting with the development of new products, services and markets
n




Advising on corporate and regulatory governance matters
n
Researching and advising on legislative and regulatory developments
n
Supporting regulatory change and other legal projects
n
Providing legal advice across a broad range of matters impacting the business
n
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
5+ years' experience gained within a major law firm and/or institutional financial services organisation
n
Australian legal qualifications and admission
n
Solid experience with Australian financial services laws and regulations
n
Demonstrated ability to draft, review and negotiate financial services agreements
n
Strong commercial judgement and the ability to provide practical, business-focused advice
n
Experience working directly with senior business stakeholders, clients or regulators
n
Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
n
The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
n
Strong project management skills and meticulous attention to detail
n
