Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Clinician
Townsville | Full-Time Fixed-Term to 30 June ****
Make a real difference in the lives of young people.
Our Townsville-based Youth AOD Service supports young people aged 12 to 25 who are experiencing problematic alcohol and other drug use and are engaged with, or at risk of becoming engaged with, the youth justice system.
We're looking for a passionate and values-driven Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Clinician to deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions that help young people build healthier futures, strengthen their wellbeing, and reduce their risk of reoffending.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work alongside young people as they navigate complex challenges and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
As an AOD Clinician, you will manage a caseload of young people requiring assessment, counselling, case management and support. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you'll deliver high-quality therapeutic interventions and support clients to achieve their recovery goals.
You'll build strong relationships with young people, families, community organisations and key stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes and coordinated care.
This is a full-time fixed-term position until 30 June ****, with the possibility of extension.
Community outreach forms an important part of this role, providing opportunities to work directly with young people in environments where they feel protected, supported and engaged.
Salary: $92,000 - $99,000 plus Superannuation and Salary Packaging
The salary offered will be dependent on qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience.
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from experienced practitioners and recent graduates who are passionate about supporting young people and making a positive impact in their communities.
You will have:
A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Social Sciences, Counselling or a related discipline (or relevant Diploma qualification).
Knowledge of AOD counselling, assessment, case management and evidence-based intervention practices.
Strong engagement and rapport-building skills, particularly with young people.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
The ability to work in a culturally safe, respectful and person-centred manner.
Strong administration and computer skills, including experience maintaining client records and databases.
Emotional maturity, resilience and the ability to work with complex client presentations.
Knowledge of the Townsville community and local service network will be highly regarded.
You will also hold:
A current Australian Driver Licence.
A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card), or the ability to obtain one.
