Lead the development of a capable, confident and future-ready allied health workforce across Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Services. As the Allied Health Educator, you will drive clinical excellence through evidence-based education, training, mentoring and supervision. Supporting allied health professionals from entry-level to advanced practice, you will build workforce capability, foster continuous learning, and expand clinical education and placement opportunities to improve consumer outcomes.

About us:

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high-level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane.
n
The Health Service is the primary provider of health services to residents of the Cairns, Tablelands and Cassowary Coast regions with a population of over 250,000 people, as well as providing specialist services to the Torres Strait and Cape York region.
Cairns Hospital is the primary referral hospital for Far North Queensland.

About your role:
n
n
Coordinate clinical education programs for pre-entry students and new graduate allied health staff and support clinicians to undertake clinical education of pre-entry students and new graduates, including ongoing monitoring and identification of local clinical education needs, promoting local capacity as well as quality, consistency and minimum standards of education.
n
Support strategic direction by applying education methodologies to improve clinical practice through demonstrating initiative to contribute to change management and policy/procedure development in conjunction with key stakeholders.
n
Proactively work within a model of empowerment and capacity building across staff and services within the HHS, building skills, knowledge, confidence and capacity of allied health.
n
Utilise a quality improvement framework to develop the clinical education model and monitor education outcomes closely, reporting in a timely fashion to all relevant stakeholders and with the support of senior staff.
