Yard Hand / Heavy Machinery Operator – Entry Level

n Monday to Friday
n 6:30am – 4:00pm

Our client is seeking a motivated and reliable Yard Hand to join their busy recycling yard in Northgate.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is mechanically minded and interested in developing a long-term career operating heavy machinery.
n
You will initially start in a Yard Hand role to learn the site, materials, safety procedures and day-to-day yard operations. Once trained and assessed as competent, you will have the opportunity to progress into operating heavy machinery including excavators, front-end loaders, material handlers and dozers.
n

Duties
n
n
General yard duties and material handling
n




Sorting and grading recyclable metals
n
Loading and unloading trucks, skip bins and trailers
n
Operating a counterbalance forklift
n
Assisting with dismantling and preparing materials for recycling
n
Providing good customer service to customers entering the site
n
Learning site procedures and safe machinery operations
n
Progressing into excavator, front-end loader, material handler and dozer operation
n
Keeping the yard clean, safe and organised
n
Following all WHS policies and procedures
n
n
What You Will Need
n
n
Current LF Forklift Licence – essential
n
Counterbalance forklift experience
n
Excavator and/or front-end loader tickets highly desirable
n
Previous heavy machinery or yard experience desirable
n
Mechanically minded with a willingness to learn
n
Comfortable working outdoors in a busy recycling yard
n
Robust commitment to workplace safety
n
Reliable, punctual and hardworking
n
Good attitude and ability to work as part of a team
n
