I'm currently working with a specialist engineering consultancy to appoint a Senior Structural & Façade Engineer to join their Sydney team.

This is a unique opportunity to work across large-scale Class 2 developments, with a key focus on desktop risk reviews of structural and façade drawings under a Latent Defect Insurance program, as well as assessing responses to identified risks.

The role also provides significant exposure to site inspections, building diagnostics and the assessment of structural and façade issues across Class 2 projects.

The opportunity You'll be responsible for:

Undertaking desktop risk reviews of structural and façade drawings on new Class 2 developments
n
Assessing responses to identified design and construction risks
n
Conducting site inspections during and post-construction
n
Investigating structural and façade defects, including concrete pathology, waterproofing failures, movement and other building issues
n
Preparing transparent and detailed technical and expert witness reports
n




Assessing designs and completed works against Australian Standards, NCC and NSW construction legislation
n
Providing Declared Designs under the NSW DBP Act **** where required
n
Working closely with clients and project stakeholders and communicating complex technical matters clearly
n
n
You'll ideally have 6–8+ years' experience in structural and façade engineering, with a strong background in Class 2 developments and experience across building defect assessments, diagnostics and defining remedial scopes of work.
n
A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. CPEng/NPEng and/or Registered NSW Design Practitioner status under the DBP Act **** is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of concrete pathology, waterproofing, strengthening techniques, NCC and Australian Standards, together with excellent technical report-writing and communication skills, will be important.
