About the role
n
The Maintenance Supervisor is a hands‐on role and responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the Aquariums building assets and systems, including the organization and supervision of other maintenance staff and sub‐contractors. You will carry out, coordinate and execute all building and system maintenance ensuring the Aquarium is always operational and looking its best!

This role requires physical fitness and the ability to work in small confined spaces, lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time. Repetitive movements also include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.

Skills & experience
n
n
Strong demonstrated skill in Building management systems.
n
Hands on experience with building maintenance, including rust treatment / prevention, painting and general repairs
n
Display a positive, proactive attitude and willingly invest extra effort when required
n
Professional appearance and excellent personal hygiene
n
Robust project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage large scale projects
n
Proven ability to work as an individual and as part of a team and contribute to the exchange of ideas and information on a regular basis
n
Mustbeabletoworkinanindustrialworkenvironmentincludingconfinedspaces,areas
with
lowheadroomanddifficultaccess
n
Strong troubleshooting skills
n
While this is primarily a Monday to Friday position, must be able to work varying shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
n
Must be able to work on‐call shifts, and be able to report to Cairns Aquarium within 1 hour for emergencies
n
Must be proficient with Word and Excel and be able to adapt well to various other computer programs
n
Must have excellent verbal and written communication, and organization skills
n
Must be able to work well under stress dealing with live animals
n
n
About You
n
You are energetic, positive, focused and have a genuine love and knowledge of marine and terrestrial environments. You will also have:
n
n
Trade qualification in electrical highly desired. Other trades / experience considered.
n
Previous experience in a maintenance supervisor role.
n
Experience in a public aquarium, aquaculture facility, waste water treatment plant or marine facility highly desirable.
n
Additional qualifications in Facilities Management, Facilities Engineering would be a considerable advantage
