The Senior Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in assisting the Regulation and Compliance Manager to promote, maintain, and enforce regulatory standards within the Local Government area.
This position involves monitoring compliance with development consents, investigating illegal development activities, and ensuring adherence to various legislative requirements.
The successful candidate will thrive in a team environment while also demonstrating robust independence in their work.
A commitment to continuous improvement and a proactive approach to problem-solving will be essential for this role.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The Senior Compliance Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:
Investigating and reporting on activities that contravene the EP&A; Act, POEO Act, LG Act, and other relevant legislation.
Monitoring existing land uses and development activities for compliance.
Providing compliance advice and education to the public and stakeholders.
Preparing and presenting evidence in Local and/or Land and Environment Courts.
Conducting inspections related to skin penetration premises and onsite sewage management.
Delivering exceptional customer service and responding to community inquiries and complaints professionally
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to promote compliance and education.
Our Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in regulatory enforcement and compliance, demonstrating a commitment to upholding community standards and values.
Proven experience in health, building surveying, and planning enforcement.




Relevant qualifications in Government Statutory Investigation & Enforcement or Local Government Planning.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to prepare detailed reports and present evidence in court.
Experience in managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act ****.
Current NSW Class C Driver's License.
Must hold a General Induction for Construction Work Certificate (White Card) or ability to obtain prior to employment.
