What you willdo as the Policy Officer
n
n
Support thecoordination of strategic priorities, projects and activitiesacross a range of ACCC work areas and consolidate informationinto clear products for decision-makers.
n
Support the ACCC'sengagement with the Australian Parliament,
governmentdepartments
and ministerial offices, including supporting theACCC'sappearances before Senate Estimates and
Parliamentaryinquiries.
n
Prepare executiveand Ministerial briefs, correspondence, reports,
presentations,meeting
papers and other executive materials.
n
Undertake researchand analysis to identify issues, risks and
emergingopportunities




relevant to the ACCC.
n
Identifyopportunities
to improve coordination, processes and ways ofworking.
n
Contribute to apositive, team-oriented and outcomes-focused teamenvironment.
n

Aboutyou
n
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
n
n
Knowledgeofparliamentary
and cabinet processes, or the ability to quicklygain this knowledge.
n
Ability todemonstrate interest in the ACCC's role, current competitionand consumer law issues and public policy.
n
Strongcommunication
and interpersonal skills including the ability toinfluence, negotiate and work collaboratively with team membersand internal and external stakeholders.
n
Strongorganisational
and coordination skills, with the ability toomanage competing priorities, plan and manage your work and seekguidance when required.
n
Theability to communicate complex issues simply, clearly andeffectively in different mediums.
n
Decision makingusing sound judgement, expertise and knowledge in line withagreed procedures.
n
n
Asan APS 4, you will work under general direction, coordinatedefined activities and use established processes and soundjudgement to deliver quality outcomes. You will contributeto planning and escalatcomplex or sensitive issues whenneeded.
n
Asan APS 5, you will work more independently, manage complexmatters and provide advice within your area ofresponsibility. You will analyse competing priorities, develop recommendations for executives and escalatissueswhen needed.
