This is a diverse, hands-on role suited to a capable, experienced and compassionate nurse who enjoys working as part of a collaborative veterinary team and is confident handling horses in both hospital and clinical environments. Hawkesbury Equine Veterinary Centre is a well-established equine hospital providing hospital, ambulatory, surgical and advanced reproductive services to a diverse equine clientele across the Hawkesbury and greater Western Sydney region.

Key responsibilities
n
n
Nursing and monitoring hospitalised horses
n
Cleaning stables, yards and general hospital cleaning and maintenance
n
Assisting veterinarians with medical and surgical procedures
n
Preparing patients and equipment for surgery
n
Anaesthetic monitoring and recovery
n
Assisting with diagnostic procedures, including radiography and ultrasonography
n
Laboratory work and sample processing
n
Preparing, cleaning and maintaining clinical instruments and equipment
n
Administering medications and treatments under veterinary direction
n
Maintaining accurate patient and treatment records
n

About you
n
n




A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, an equivalent recognised qualification, or an overseas veterinary qualification with relevant equine nursing experience
n
A minimum of two years' experience working in an equine veterinary practice or hospital environment
n
Confident and safe horse-handling skills
n
Experience assisting with equine medical and surgical cases
n
Strong communication and organisational skills
n
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
n
A current driver's licence
n
A genuine commitment to high standards of patient and client care
n
A diverse and interesting equine nursing position

Exposure to hospital, surgical, ambulatory and advanced reproduction cases
