Tall Ingots is a well-established, privately owned scrap metal recycling and processing business based in Yeerongpilly, only 8km from the Brisbane CBD. With over 80 years of combined management experience, we service clients across Queensland, the Northern Territory, and the Pacific Islands. We hold ongoing contracts with local, state, and Commonwealth government agencies, as well as major private enterprises. Our operations include a modern industrial processing facility, a drive-thru weighbridge and scrap drop-off centre, a fleet of specialist collection vehicles, and an in-house fabrication and maintenance workshop that supports our processing equipment, custom bins, hoppers, and site infrastructure. We are looking to grow our workshop team with an experienced Metal Fabricator to support our expanding operations.

About the Role
n
Metal Fabricator will work independently in our on-site workshop to fabricate, modify, and repair steel bins, hoppers, processing equipment components, and structural steelwork used throughout our operations. This is a hands‐on role for a qualified tradesperson who takes pride in the quality of their work and can operate confidently across a range of fabrication tasks.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings,



and job specifications to plan fabrication tasks
n
Select and prepare metal stock including plate, RHS, pipe, and structural steel sections
n
Mark off, cut, and shape metal using oxy-acetylene, plasma cutter, guillotine, and mechanical saws
n
Set up and operate press brakes, rollers, and other forming equipment to shape and bend metal components
n
Weld metal components using MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques in accordance with AS/NZS ****
n
Fabricate and repair skip bins, hoppers, chutes, guarding, and structural steel used in scrap processing operations
n
Modify and repair processing equipment including baler and shear components, feed structures, and wear plates
n
Inspect completed welds for bead width, penetration, and structural integrity
n
Finish fabricated components including grinding, filing, cleaning, and preparing for coating
n
Maintain a safe and compliant workshop in line with WHS requirements and company procedures
n
Work independently and as part of the workshop team to meet production schedules
n

Skills and Experience Required
n
n
Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade)- MEM***** or equivalent
n
Minimum 1- 2 years relevant experience as a Metal Fabricator, Boilermaker, or Welder in a workshop or industrial fabrication workplace
n
Physically fit and able to work in a busy industrial workshop environment
n
Reliable, punctual, and committed to safe work practices
n
