About the Role
The Dentist (Dental Officer) is responsible for providing high-quality, culturally safe, and patient-centred dental care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community. The role delivers comprehensive oral health services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, preventive care, restorative treatment, emergency dental care, and oral health education.
The Dentist works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment to improve oral health outcomes, increase access to care, and support Kambu Health's commitment to delivering holistic, community-controlled health services. The role ensures clinical practice is evidence-based, safe, respectful, and aligned with professional standards, organisational policies, and the values of Cultural Authority, Accessibility and Inclusivity, Respect and Confidential Practices, Child-Centric practice, and Collaboration and Excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive dental assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, preventive, restorative, emergency, and general dental care
Deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centred, and culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
Maintain accurate clinical records, treatment plans, referrals, appointments, and reporting requirements
Comply with clinical governance, infection control, privacy, workplace safety, and professional standards
Promote oral health education, prevention, accessibility, and positive engagement with patients, families, and community
Collaborate with medical, allied health, Aboriginal Health Workers, and external providers to support holistic care
Maintain AHPRA registration and CPD requirements while contributing to teamwork, quality improvement, and Kambu Health's values
What You'll Bring
Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain (Mandatory)
Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) (Mandatory)
Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain (Mandatory)
Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Doctor of Dental Medicine, or equivalent recognised qualification (Mandatory)
Current AHPRA and Dental Board of Australia registration, professional indemnity insurance, and CPD compliance (Mandatory)
Experience providing comprehensive dental care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, preventive, restorative, and emergency procedures.
Commitment to culturally safe, respectful, and community-led healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
