Job Description
Forward Ability Support is a not-for-profit organisation with 60 years history of providing key services to people with spinal cord injuries or similar related health conditions. We are driven to make a brighter and more positive future for our community by supporting people with spinal cord injuries to live their best life.

We're currently looking for Disability Support Workers to assist a client in their home in the Burraneer area with high-intensity personal care and complex support needs.

You will assist with daily tasks, such as:
n
n
Personal Care:Showering, dressing, grooming and other personal care activities.
n
Bowel Care:Supporting the client's established bowel routine.
n
Wound Monitoring:Monitoring the client's skin and existing wounds, identifying any deterioration, changes or new wounds, and promptly reporting and escalating concerns in accordance with the client's care plan.
n
Catheter Management:Assisting with catheter care, including techniques to promote fluid movement through the catheter and into the leg bag.
n
Medical Support: Assisting with medication administration and prescribed medical support, including bowel irrigation.
n
Hydration Support:Assisting the client to maintain adequate hydration to support bladder health and help reduce the risk of bacterial growth.
n
Mobility and Transfers:Using a hoist to safely transfer the client between relevant surfaces and equipment.
n
Domestic Assistance:Cleaning relevant areas and equipment and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
n
ShoppingAssisting with grocery and other shopping as required.
n
Record Keeping:Completing accurate progress notes, documenting care provided, reporting incidents and escalating any concerns appropriately.
n

Available shifts:
n
n
Monday: 4pm to 8pm
n
Tuesday: 3pm to 8pm
n
Wednesday: 3pm to 8pm
n
Sunday: 6am to 8pm
n
n
Important things you should know about the role:
n
n
We're looking for Casuals with the intention to convert to Permanent.
n
All new starters undertake 3 days Induction program in Lidcombe.
n
We're conducting in-person, face-to-face interviews in our Newington office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You must be available to attend the in-person interview.
n
n

NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
n
National Police Check
n
First Aid & CPR Certificate
n
Driver's licence and access to a vehicle
n
Compassion, reliability and a positive attitude
