Job Description
Senior Environmental Consultant - Impact Assessments & Approvals
n
Gas, solar, BESS, transport & development approvals already on the project list
n
5-person Infrastructure team inside a growing almost 40-person consultancy
n
Build from project delivery into PM, client ownership & eventually winning work
n
As an Environmental Consultant / Senior Consultant -Approvals, join a Brisbane environmental consultancy where the next step isn't simply writing bigger reports.
n
The opportunity here is to learn the whole job.
n
Initially, you'll be hands-on across environmental approvals, reporting and project delivery, working with senior people who can help build your EPBC and project management capability. As you become established, you'll take more ownership: coordinating specialists, managing budgets and programs, dealing directly with clients and regulators, and eventually helping bring projects through the door yourself.
n
And there's a genuinely valuable mix of projects to learn that on. The current workload includes two gas pipelines, a new highway bridge, a local government sports precinct, multi-lot residential developments, a BESS, two combined solar farm/BESS projects and two synchronous condensers.
n
The Role
n
You'll sit within a 5-person Infrastructure & Environmental Approvals team, working across projects from early environmental constraints and approvals strategy through referral, assessment and delivery.
n
You'll:
n
n
Support and increasingly manage environmental approvals across infrastructure, energy and development projects
n
Prepare environmental assessments, referrals and approval documentation
n
Build your capability across EPBC Act assessment pathways and MNES
n
Coordinate inputs from ecology, heritage, hydrology, planning, social impact and engineering specialists
n
Manage scopes, budgets, schedules and project deliverables as your experience develops
n
Liaise with government agencies, clients and other project stakeholders
n
Turn technical information from multiple disciplines into clear, defensible reporting
n
Progress towards taking greater ownership of clients and projects rather than staying purely delivery-focused
n
n
The Team
n
The wider consultancy has grown tonearly 40 people, with complementary capability across environmental planning, ecology, landscape architecture and GIS.
n
It's large enough to have specialists around you and a strong project pipeline, but still small enough that you aren't buried underneath layers of management. The culture is collaborative and relatively low-ego, with good access to senior people and flexibility around how you work.
n
Experience
n
n
Around 4-8 years' experience in environmental consulting, government or industry
n
Environmental approvals / impact assessment experience
n
Some working knowledge of the EPBC Act
n
Environmental Science, Planning, Ecology, Environmental Management or related degree
n
Strong technical writing skills
n
An interest in developing your project management and client-facing capability
n
You don't need to arrive as a finished Environmental Project Manager. That's partly the point.
n
n
Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 + super, depending on where you sit within the Consultant / Senior Consultant range.
