Job Role: Senior Tax Accountant

Salary Budget: 120,*******,000 PHP / Month

Contract Type: Independent Contractor
n
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9.00 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you'll have flexibility in how you manage your time.
n
Who We Are: At Hunt St we help Australian companies directly hire top 5% remote talent in the Philippines. You will be hired directly by the client, typically as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote, so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is:
n Our client is an established Australian accounting firm based in Sydney, servicing clients across Australia and overseas. The firm works primarily with business owner franchisees, small and medium-sized businesses, and high-net-worth individuals and families.
n
Role Overview:
n
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing Australian tax and accounting work across a portfolio of individuals, companies, trusts and other entities.
n
This is not a bookkeeping or management accounting role. The client specifically requires someone with genuine Australian tax experience, particularly experience preparing personal, company and trust tax returns.
n
The role is approximately:
n
n
80% hands-on Australian tax and accounting work
n
20% coaching junior accountants and beginning to build your own client portfolio
n
n
Key Responsibilities:
n
n
Prepare Australian individual, company and trust tax returns.
n
Prepare annual financial statements, tax calculations, workpapers and supporting schedules.
n
Prepare and review BAS and other Australian tax compliance work.
n
Handle tax and accounting matters for SMEs, business owners, franchisees and high-net-worth individuals/families.
n
Prepare SMSF financial statements and tax returns where required.
n
Liaise with SMSF auditors and clients where applicable.
n
Manage and progressively build your own portfolio of clients.
n
Communicate directly with clients regarding tax,
accounting and outstanding information.
n
Manage deadlines, workflow and client follow-ups.
n
Review work prepared by junior accountants and provide constructive feedback.
n
Coach and mentor three junior accountants.
n
Support the Manager with technical queries, workflow and quality control.
n
Identify issues, delays and process improvement opportunities and raise them proactively.
n
Maintain a high standard of accuracy, quality and client service.
n
n
Required Skills & Qualifications
n
n
CPA qualified in the Philippines.
n
3–5+ years of genuine Australian tax and/or business services experience.
n
Strong hands-on experience preparing Australian individual, company and trust tax returns.
n
Strong knowledge of Australian tax, accounting and compliance requirements.
n
Experience working with Australian SMEs and/or business owners.
n
Ability to independently prepare high-quality tax returns, financial statements and workpapers.
n
Strong attention to detail and time management.
n
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
n
Comfortable communicating directly with Australian clients.
n
Professional and clear communication with a neutral accent.
n
Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment.
n
Strong initiative, accountability and proactive work ethic.
n
Willingness to coach and mentor junior accountants.
n
n
Important: Candidates whose experience is primarily in bookkeeping or management accounting without substantial Australian tax return preparation experience will not be suitable.
n
Preferred Experience
n
n
SMSF experience is a bonus, not mandatory – training will be provided.
n
Experience with Australian franchise businesses.
n
Experience managing a portfolio of Australian clients.
n
Previous experience reviewing or mentoring junior accountants.
n
Experience with more complex individual or high-net-worth client matters.
n
n
Software
n
Experience with the following is highly desirable:
n
n
Xero – used by approximately 90% of clients.
n
XPM – tax/practice management.
n
BGL – SMSF work; currently being implemented.
n
Ignition – proposals and billing.
n
Microsoft Excel and other standard accounting/tax tools.
n
n
