We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a large-scale refinery operation based in Wagerup, Western Australia, approximately 120km south of Perth. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineering professional to provide leadership, drive reliability improvements, and mentor a small team of engineers within a complex processing environment.

Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you will play a key role in ensuring equipment performance, asset integrity, and continuous improvement across critical plant areas.
n
About the Role
n
As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide mechanical engineering leadership and technical expertise while leading a small team of engineers. You will be responsible for improving equipment reliability, supporting plant performance, and delivering engineering solutions that enhance operational efficiency and safety.
n
This chance is available from mid-September **** through to the end of January **** and offers a valuable leadership role within a large-scale refinery operation.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Provide mechanical engineering leadership and support across the Precipitation and Calcination areas.
n
Lead and facilitate problem-solving initiatives and Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for significant equipment failures and downtime events.
n
Provide expert engineering advice and technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
n




Develop and improve equipment management strategies using reliability engineering principles and methodologies.
n
Develop scopes of work for major equipment repairs and engineering projects, including fitness-for-service assessments.
n
Lead, coach and mentor a small engineering team, ensuring engineering outcomes are delivered safely and effectively.
n
Monitor, maintain and manage asset health and equipment performance.
n
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions.
n

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical capability, leadership experience and a passion for reliability and asset management.
n
Essential Skills & Experience
n
n
Previous experience in a Senior or Lead Mechanical Engineering position.
n
Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a small engineering team.
n
Experience in maintenance, reliability, plant engineering and asset management.
n
Sound understanding of risk management, statutory compliance and reliability engineering principles.
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills,



with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organisation.
n
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
n
Knowledge of welding procedures and pressure equipment.
n

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Experience using CMMS systems, ideally EAM.
