Trades Assistant – Mechanical Workshop

Due to continued business requirements, an exciting opportunity now exists for a Trades Assistant to join their highly skilled Service Centre team based in Smithfield, NSW. This permanent full-time chance would ideally suit someone with good hands‐on mechanical aptitude and practical workshop experience who is looking to further develop their skills within a professional engineering environment.
n
Working alongside experienced Service Technicians, you will assist with the disassembly, assembly, servicing, preparation and movement of customer products while helping maintain a safe, clean and highly organised workshop environment.
n
Role Tasks & Duties
n
The role includes, but is not limited to:
n
n
Assist qualified Service Technicians with thedisassembly and assembly of customer productsunder their guidance and supervision.
n
Assist Service Technicians with repairs, servicing and general workshop activities.
n
Undertake general cleaning and preparation of mechanical components and parts.
n
Clean, organise and maintain workshop areas to ensure a safe, efficient and professional working environment.
n
Receive and assist with the handling of incoming customer products.
n
Undertake painting and final assembly of serviced and repaired products.
n
Pack and prepare completed products and components for shipment to customers.
n
Assist with the movement, handling and positioning of mechanical components and equipment.
n
Operate workshop plant and equipment,
includingoverhead cranes and forklifts, where appropriately licensed and authorised.
n
Maintain tools, equipment and designated work areas to a high standard.
n
Support qualified technicians with additional product repairs and servicing activities as required.
n
Follow all company procedures, work instructions andWHS requirementsat all times.
n
Maintain positive working relationships with Service Technicians, the Workshop Supervisor and wider Service Centre team.
n
Assist with general workshop duties as required to support the efficient operation of the Service Centre.
n

Required Skills, Experience & Competencies
n
n
Previousgeneral mechanical, workshop, trades assistant or similar hands‐on experience.
n
Good mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in mechanical equipment, engineering and maintenance.
n
Relevant practical experience working with mechanical products, components, machinery or similar equipment.
n
Experience using hand and power tools within a workshop or industrial environment.
n
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the guidance of qualified Service Technicians.
n
Strong commitment to workplace safety and following established WHS procedures.
n
Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards of workmanship.
n
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative workshop team.
n
Reliable, punctual and possessing a positive work ethic.
n
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
n
Current Forklift Licence preferred.
n
Previous experience operating anoverhead crane preferred.

Ability to pass a pre-employment medical including Drug & Alcohol screening.

Proof of unrestricted Australian working rights.

Current Australian Driver Licence preferred.

Forklift Licence to be presented prior to commencement where applicable.

Willingness to undertake additional workplace training and accreditation as required.
