About the Role
n
As a Lawyer within the organisation's Legal Service, you will provide high-quality legal advice, representation and advocacy across family violence, child protection, family law and victims of crime.
n
Working within a culturally protected, trauma-informed model, you will support clients with complex needs while collaborating closely with Paralegal Support Workers and a multidisciplinary team.



You'll also contribute to community outreach, legal education and broader service delivery, helping improve access to justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Provide legal advice, casework and court representation across family violence, child protection, family law and related matters
n
Deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed legal services to Aboriginal clients
n
Work collaboratively with Paralegal Support Workers to support clients with complex needs
n
Build and maintain strong relationships with community, legal and government stakeholders
n
Contribute to community legal education, outreach and early intervention programs
n
Maintain accurate file management, reporting and compliance with service standards
n

What You'll Bring
n
Essential
n
n
Eligible to hold a practising certificate in Victoria
n
A degree in Law
n
Demonstrated experience or a strong interest in family violence or related areas of law
n
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with vulnerable clients
n
Ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
n
Understanding of trauma-informed practice
n
n
Desirable

Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
n
Experience in family law, child protection or community legal settings
n
Exposure to community legal education or outreach work
