We are seeking an inspiring and strategic Head of English tolead the next chapter of English education at CGS. This is anexceptional chance to shape a rigorous, engaging and inclusiveYears 7–12 curriculum across the IB Middle Years Programme, IBDiploma Programme and NSW Higher School Certificate.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role instrengthening the implementation of MYP Language and Literature andcreating a purposeful transition into senior pathways. You willchampion outstanding teaching, thoughtful curriculum design and thedevelopment of confident readers, writers, speakers and criticalthinkers.
n
As Head of English, you will lead a team of dedicated specialistteachers, build a culture of professional ambition and sharedaccountability, and ensure excellence in every Englishclassroom.
n
About You
n
You will have a genuine love of English, literature andlanguage, and the ability to inspire it in students and colleagues. The will lead and grow a team of specialist teachers, withcredibility and generosity. Your high standards and sound judgementin curriculum, assessment and the selection of textswillshine. You will also have a commitment to inclusive excellence,with the conviction that every student can grow as a reader, writerand speaker.

Design, develop and maintain an English curriculumprogramme that meets the needs of all students in the Schoolfrom Year 7 to Year 12
n
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, includingthe ability to advise and liaise across all levels of anorganisation and with parents and guardians
n
Provide strategic leadership within their domain that isexplicitly aligned to CGS100 and to the framework or frameworksgoverning their area of responsibility
n
Contribute to whole-School alignment across academic,co-curricular, wellbeing and operational domains with coherenceand clarity of purpose
n
Make evidence-informed decisions and maintain disciplinedplanning,



review and accountability cycles within theirdomain
n
Take active responsibility for the performance, developmentand wellbeing of the people they lead
n
Foster a culture of shared accountability, professionalambition, mutual respect and continuous improvement withintheir team
n
Manage the human, financial and physical resourcesentrusted to their domain with care, rigour andtransparency
n
Represent CGS with authority, credibility and care ininternal and external forums
n
Lead by example in the teaching of English across the ageand ability range of the School
n
Represent the Faculty in Work Health and Safety matters andlead the safe conduct of Faculty excursions, competitions andevents
n
Demonstrated success teaching English across the secondaryyears and the senior pathways, including the IB MYP, the IB DPand the HSC
n
Demonstrated capacity to lead curriculum design, assessmentand moderation in English
n
Demonstrated capacity to lead, develop and hold accountablea team of teachers, including through the Professional GrowthCycle
n
Demonstrated use of performance data to improve studentoutcomes
n
Excellent written and spoken English, effectiveinterpersonal communication and strong technologicalliteracy.
