The Role

An chance has become available for several Clinical Nurses (Mental Health - Melaleuca Inpatient Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our ******-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will
n
n
Utilise advanced level mental health nursing capability to coordinate and manage complex cases
n
Lead and coordinate clinical care in the work unit, performing the role of shift coordinator as required
n
Provide, maintain and role model advanced person-focused and evidence-based care
n
Foster effective relationships with consumers, families and carers
n
n
About you
n
To be successful in this position you will require:
n
n
A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
n
Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
n
Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
n
A graduate certificate or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
n
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
n
Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
n
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
n
Criminal History Screening will be required for current employees (GCH will cover cost)

About Us
n
Melaleuca Acute Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit is located at Gold Coast University Hospital and is designed to provide for a safe and therapeutic environment in the provision of specialised acute inpatient service for consumers aged between ***** years. The unit is a 24-bed facility consisting of 18 Open Acute Care beds and 6 Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) beds. PICU beds in the unit are in a separate area within the unit with a higher level of nursing input to care for consumers in an acutely ill phase of a mental illness. Melaleuca Unit also services a Short Stay Pathway Program which can utilise up to 4 of the 18 Acute beds.
