Job Description
Bornhorst + Ward is seeking an experienced Civil Designer / Engineer to join our growing Brisbane Civil team. This role is ideal for a technically strong and commercially aware professional who can confidently manage projects from concept through to detailed design, while working collaboratively within a high-performing team.

We're looking for someone who brings both design precision and practical site understanding to deliver thoughtful, compliant and buildable outcomes across a diverse range of civil projects.

About the Role
n
You will play a key role in the planning, design and coordination of civil infrastructure projects across Queensland, including:
n
n
Residential subdivisions
n
Property and private/commercial developments
n
Bulk earthworks
n
Roadways
n
Carparks and hardstand areas
n
Commercial and retail developments
n
Underground infrastructure services including stormwater, sewer and water reticulation
n
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Prepare and coordinate civil engineering designs from concept to construction documentation
n
Undertake earthworks modelling, road design and infrastructure layout
n
Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and local authorities
n
Review and interpret authority requirements and standards
n
Provide technical input and practical construction insight into design solutions
n
Mentor and support junior designers and engineers
n
Contribute to project planning, reporting and design reviews
n
Attend site inspections and maintain a strong understanding of on-site civil works
n
n
About You
n
n
Minimum 5 years' experience in civil design and engineering
n
Strong experience across subdivisions and commercial developments within Queensland
n
Solid understanding of civil construction practices and local authority standards
n
Confidence working autonomously and managing client relationships
n
Proven ability to collaborate within a design team and guide junior staff
n
Strong written and verbal communication skills
n
n
Technical Skills & Qualifications
n
n
Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (essential)
n
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
n
Advanced capability in AutoCAD
n
12d experience (highly regarded)
n
Experience with 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling packages such as DRAINS and TUFLOW (highly regarded)
n
Strong understanding of civil design principles and documentation standards
n
Working towards RPEQ registration
n
