Leaf by Leaf is looking for an entry-level gardener / horticulture trainee to join our small team working across some of Melbourne's finest residential gardens.This is not an apprenticeship.
It's a hands-on, entry-level role designed for someone who genuinely wants to build a career in gardening, horticulture and landscape gardening.The OpportunityYou'll be working alongside experienced horticulturists and learning on the job in high-end residential gardens across Melbourne.Our work includes gardens designed by some of Australia's leading landscape designers, giving you the opportunity to learn how beautifully designed gardens are maintained, developed and improved over time.The role is primarily garden maintenance, with regular involvement in soft landscaping, planting and garden installation work.You won't be stuck doing the same task every day.
As your knowledge and confidence grow, so will your responsibilities.What You'll LearnYou'll gain practical experience across:Plant identification and plant carePruning and shapingHedgingLawn carePest and disease identificationSoil and plant nutritionIrrigationPlanting and soft landscapingGarden installationsMaintaining established, high-end residential landscapesMost importantly, you'll learn how to understand a garden, not simply mow lawns and pull weeds.Who We're Looking ForExperience isn't the most important thing for this position.
Attitude is.A Certificate I or II in Horticulture would be highly regarded, but it isn't essential.

gardens and landscaping and want the opportunity to make a career from it.We're looking for someone who:Is genuinely interested in horticulture and gardeningWants to learn and develop their skillsEnjoys working outdoors and being physically activeTakes pride in their workCan communicate well and work as part of a small teamIs reliable and turns up ready to workHas the ability to lift a lawn mower onto a ute by themselvesIs able to attain a working with children checkHas an Australian driver's licenceHas their own reliable transportThe RoleMonday – Friday | 7:30am – 4:00pmWe are based in Briar hill but we maintain gardens in all areas of Melbourne from bayside to north east suburbs giving us a wide range of garden styles all ranging in different sizes from balcony's to over 25acre propertiesOur work takes us across Melbourne, maintaining a diverse range of high-quality residential gardens.You will need your own transport when starting with us.
