New Auckland Place is a family owned, 128 bed Aged Care Facility in Gladstone, QLD.
We pride ourselves with having a great rapport within the community, renowned for staff retention and a high standard of resident care.We are looking for a Full Time Maintenance Officer, a jack of all trades that is also a people person.
Reporting directly to the Facility Manager, you will be part of a small yet energetic team to provide general handy person services to a large, aged care facility.Working as a member of a team, our Maintenance Officers work autonomously and as a team, to provide routine, planned, ad-hoc and respond to urgent maintenance requests and general garden maintenance.
And the requests are varied!
You can expect requests from planned maintenance works like painting, patching and flooring repairs, general pruning and planned mowing, through to assisting residents with sensors, water pressure, TV remotes or bathroom and handrail installations - no day is the same in Aged Care.Skills & Experience:Adaptable, passionate and willingness to learn.Collaborative and skilled at teamwork.Friendly and effective communication abilities.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain grounds and shared spaces to a high standard of presentationPerform general garden maintenance, including mulching, planting, weed control (manual and spraying), and lawn careCarry out general building maintenance such as painting, lighting replacement, gutter cleaning, basic plumbing, tiling,



and minor repairsFollow preventative maintenance programs to ensure timely upkeep of buildings and outdoor areasIdentify, report, and address hazards in line with work health and safety proceduresObtain quotes for repairs or maintenance works as directed by the Facility ManagerProvide friendly, professional service to residents, visitors, contractors, and staffBuild positive relationships with residents through a respectful, approachable, and supportive mannerMust haves:Sound maintenance skills with a broad range of practical applications such as in carpentry, tiling, painting, plastering, labouring, property maintenance, or handyman tasksPossess good communication and organisational skillsCurrent Driver's License Class CHave the ability to recognise, upscale and resolve maintenance matters which require further assistanceBe able to work proactively to identify maintenance problems, including regularly inspecting and assessing repair workA satisfactory Police Clearance Certificate is required as per the Aged Care Act ****Previous experience as a Maintenance Officer in Aged CareMinimum of 2 years' experience completing maintenance for commercial businessesKnowledge of Work, Health and Safety RequirementsHave the ability to recognise, upscale and resolve maintenance matters which require further assistanceA SafeWork NSW White Card
